Following the success of the affordable BackBeat 500 series of wireless on-ear headphones, Plantronics launched the BackBeat GO 600 cans. Priced at $100, the new product lineup offers the same combination of good looks, enjoyable sound, and attractive price as the BackBeat, but in an over-ear form factor.
Casual Looks We Like
Unsurprisingly, the Plantronics BackBeat GO 600 headphones look like the BackBeat 500 series, but with larger ear pads. The headset looks understated at a quick glance, yet it's still full of cool touches.
Our favorite design bit about the BackBeat GO 600 headphones is the bright orange fabric label with a Plantronics logo on the headband. It contrasts nicely with all four color options (black, navy, khaki, and gray).
The Plantronics BackBeat GO 600 headphones are easily among the most comfortable over-ear headphones we've ever tested. The headset has a lightweight build and ear cups with soft memory-foam padding, and its headband is flexible and doesn’t cause any unnecessary fatigue.
The headset has convenient playback and volume controls on the left ear cup, while the EQ profile button and power on/off switch are located on the right ear cup.
Surprisingly Well-Balanced Audio Experience
The BackBeat GO 600 headphones are equipped with 40-millimeter audio drivers, which deliver a crisp, well-balanced audio signature that’s a pleasant surprise in this price point. Regardless of your music preferences, you'll be pleased with what Plantronics’ latest creation offers on the sonic front.
You can switch between two EQ modes via a dedicated button on the right ear cup. The default mode delivers a neutral audio signature, while the other available option enhances the low range. We found the bass-boost mode to be enjoyable without overpowering the rest of the audio experience.
It’s worth noting that compared to other over-ear headsets, the Plantronics BackBeat GO 600 let in slightly more ambient noise. We reckon that this is a fair tradeoff given how comfortable the headphones are. In our experience, headsets with a more snug fit would cause wearing fatigue and discomfort faster.
Top-Notch Battery Life
Plantronics promises up to 18 hours of battery life between charges. We easily got through a full day of listening with the BackBeat GO 600. Depending on your usage, you might not need to charge the headset for days at a time.
The headset utilizes a microUSB port for charging. We wish Plantronics had opted for a USB-C, but at this price range, this isn't a deal-breaker.
Our Favorite Wireless Over-Ear Cans for $100
The Plantronics BackBeat GO 600 is the best pair of wireless over-ear headphones in their price range. They're well-designed and crafted, exceptionally comfortable, and offer great battery life. Most importantly, in a price point dominated by bass-heavy offerings, the BackBeat GO 600 headphones stand out with a balanced audio delivery that’s worthy of a higher price tag.
