Few things make us happier than spending our weekends doing exactly what we want to do. Whether you’re looking for a more laid-back vibe or are ready to stay out all night, New York City has it all! Not sure what to do this weekend? We have you covered.
EAT IT UP
Have you ever seen an 80-pound Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese wheel? If not, you’re about to, and you’ll get to sample it as well. At 5 p.m., Murray’s Cheese will crack open the huge wheel and allow to taste it. Stop by the Bleeker Street location until 7 p.m. and you’ll also get to sample cacio e pepe (Italian mac and cheese) and mini cannoli cones. Enjoy!
Make room in your stomach, because the 5 Boro Pizza Challenge is happening this Saturday! Starting at 11 a.m., teams will receive a list of pizzerias. There will be one pizza spot in each borough, and your goal is to get and eat a slice from all of them. You’re only allowed to travel by train, bus, ferry, bike, or by walking. All driving (cabs, Uber, Lyft, Via, etc.) is prohibited. Register your team now!
EXPERIENCE THE BRUNCH OF ALL BRUNCHES AT TORO LOCO (Saturdays and Sundays)
The geniuses at Toro Loco take brunch very seriously, and they’re stepping up their game.. The Financial District spot is offering a Burlesque Brunch every Saturday though October and Drag Queen Brunch party every Sunday through October. From 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (performances start at 3:30 p.m.), you’ll enjoy unlimited shared plates and cocktails for just $50 per person. Take it from someone who has been there before — you want to make time for Toro Loco in your weekend.
TASTE EVERY TYPE OF FOOD AT SMORGASBURG (9/22 and 9/23)
Get excited to eat the weekend away at Smorgasburg! Taking place in Williamsburg on Saturdays and Prospect Park on Sundays, you’ll never get bored of the food vendors. From elaborate entrees to delectable desserts, no one leaves with an empty stomach.

KICK OFF OKTOBERFEST AT PIER 15’S WATERMARK BAR (9/21 to 9/23)
Oktoberfest is kicking off at Watermark Bar at Pier 15, and we’re ready to eat all the pretzels and drink all the beer. The South Street Seaport celebration is free to attend, but there are special packages that can be purchased in advance. Get ready for traditional German eats like giant pretzels and bratwurst — and let’s not forget the beer. Corn hole, ping pong, and stein-holding contests will be sprinkled throughout the day so you last from noon to midnight. Can’t make it this weekend? The Oktoberfest fun will also take place 9/27 to 9/30, 10/4 to 10/7, and 10/11 to 10/14. Find more info here.

An immersive cocktail class has hit NYC, and it’s Harry Potter-themed! The Cauldron Magical Cocktail Experience gives visitors a magic wand and robe to wear for the 1-hour and 45-minute class. LIVE IN A WORLD OF RAINBOWS AT THE COLOR FACTORY (until 9/30)
The Color Factory is turning NYC into a pile of rainbows. The pop-up interactive exhibit first opened in San Francisco in 2017, and it's finally made its way to Soho. You can expect 20,000 square feet of experiences, like a giant ball pit and macaron conveyor belt. It’s only going to be here until September 30, so grab your ticket now!
First it was in Los Angeles, and now it’s made its way to the East Coast. Candytopia is officially open in NYC! Just like many other pop-ups, this one has uniquely designed rooms — except this one is all about candy. If you have a sweet tooth, you’ll want to snag a ticket and enjoy the marshmallow pit and candy-filled rooms. Get a better idea of what it's all about in the video below!
