Few things make us happier than spending our weekends doing exactly what we want to do. Whether you’re looking for a more laid-back vibe or are ready to stay out all night, New York City has it all! Not sure what to do this weekend? We have you covered.
EAT IT UP
Prepare to be relaxed — like, really relaxed — this 4/20. Van Leeuwen ice cream has partnered with The Alchemist’s Kitchen and Buffy to give you the ultimate Friday pop-up experience. From 2 to 11 p.m., you can enjoy a sundae topped with a 2-milligram dose of CBD oil. While you’re on cloud 9, there will be fluffy comforters from Buffy to lounge and hang out. Head to the Van Leeuwen location on the Lower East Side to enjoy!
TASTE EVERY TYPE OF FOOD AT SMORGASBURG (4/21 and 4/22)
Get excited to eat the weekend away at Smorgasburg! Taking place in Williamsburg on Saturdays and Prospect Park on Sundays, you’ll never get bored of the food vendors. From elaborate entrées to delectable desserts, no one leaves with an empty stomach.
DRINK IT UP
GRAB A DRINK AT GALLOW GREEN (reopens 4/20)
Gallow Green at the McKittrick Hotel is back! The beloved Chelsea rooftop spot opens for the season on Friday, and boy, have we missed the garden-esque vibe. Don’t forget that it’s not just a great place to go for happy hour. There's also a delicious buffet brunch on Saturdays and Sundays that comes back on April 28. If you need more rooftop bar ideas around the city, these should keep you busy!
SEE IT UP
GET A NEW APPRECIATION FOR DAVID BOWIE (until 7/15)
The “David Bowie Is…” exhibit had a successful run at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, and now it’s made its way to the Brooklyn Museum until July. But what makes this exhibit so great? You’ll get “unprecedented access to David Bowie’s personal archive,” for one, and it’ll give you a new love for how Bowie revolutionized music and inspired people to be themselves.
The New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx is going full force into spring. Snag a ticket to see the 16th annual Orchid Show. Once that ends, more events will take place, including Spring at the Garden and the Garden Art & Antiques Fair. Enjoy!
DO IT UP
BURN YOUR TASTEBUDS AT THE HOT SAUCE EXPO (4/21 and 4/22)
If you’re like Beyoncé and got hot sauce in your bag, swag, this event is for you! This Saturday and Sunday, there will be fiery events at The 6th Annual Hot Sauce Expo. From cocktail demos to the Spicy Tacos of Hell Challenge, you’re sure to gain a whole new appreciation for the spicy stuff.
HEAD TO THE HESTER STREET FAIR (Saturdays through 10/27)
The Lower East Side fair was built on bringing the neighborhood together, and it continues to do so every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.! Get ready to shop the city’s best artisanal fashion, art, jewelry, and crafts. There will also be live music and food vendors to complete the day!
