Few things make us happier than spending our weekends doing exactly what we want to do. Whether you’re looking for a more laid-back vibe or are ready to stay out all night, New York City has it all! Not sure what to do this weekend? We have you covered.
EAT IT UP
Pickle ice cream is a real thing, and it comes in soft-serve form. Lucky Pickle Dumpling Co. on the Upper West Side debuted the flavor recently, and it quickly got attention. Customers are saying it’s actually really good, so you should try it for yourself!
TASTE EVERY TYPE OF FOOD AT SMORGASBURG (5/19 and 5/20)
Get excited to eat the weekend away at Smorgasburg! Taking place in Williamsburg on Saturdays and Prospect Park on Sundays, you’ll never get bored of the food vendors. From elaborate entrees to delectable desserts, no one leaves with an empty stomach.
SEE IT UP
CHECK OUT THE NEW GEORGIA O’KEEFFE EXHIBIT (5/19 to 10/28)
The New York Botanical Gardens is debuting a new Hawaiian flora exhibit inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe. At least 15 of her Hawaii paintings will be displayed, which haven't been shown together in New York since 1940. There will be fireworks on opening night this Saturday, plus more fun surprises.
Needless to say, there are many incredible Broadway shows. With newer ones like Mean Girls and SpongeBob SquarePants: The Musical, it can be difficult to know which ones are worth your time and money. Take it from our in-house Broadway aficionado — these musicals will have you dancing in the theatre.
DO IT UP
START YOUR SUNDAY WITH COMPLIMENTARY YOGA (5/20, and every Sunday in May)
Yoga is the ultimate way to relax and reenergize for the week ahead! Every Sunday this month, lululemon Williamsburg will be hosting complimentary yoga at 9:30 a.m. Take a class with Brooklyn-based instructor Ashley Kalinske, and don’t forget to bring your own mat!
PICK UP FLOWERS THAT'LL LAST A YEAR (until 5/31)
Venus ET Fleur is known for their incredible blooms that need no watering or maintenance, and yet they last a year. The eternity-rose atelier opened a pop-up store at the Westfield Oculus, so you can pick up roses in person instead of ordering online. With options like a single rose to a large arrangement, they’re perfect for a gift or just for yourself!
EMBRACE ALL THE FLORAL (until 6/30)
NYLO New York City is transforming its lobby into a flower-filled wonderland known as Arthouse Flower Market. In addition to seeing the hotel covered in beautiful blooms, there's a floral-themed cocktail menu, along with floral beers and mocktails, available every day at the LOCL Bar — and the cocktails are poured from watering cans! If you head over there on a Saturday, you can expect live music and complimentary tastings of brand-new vintages of rosé and seasonal beers from local breweries. Happy spring!
EXPERIENCE THE ARIZONA ICED TEA POP-UP SHOP (until 5/21)
AriZona Iced Tea is known for their longtime $0.99 price tag, and now they’re packaging a whole experience behind it. The Brooklyn-based brand has opened its doors to a pop-up shop in SoHo. There's a ton of merchandise ranging from $0.99 (of course) to $200, including bathing suits, hoodies, socks, beach towels, and shirts, as well as a bunch of stuff you can buy online as well. But that’s not all! The pop-up will also feature The Golden House, which offers free tattoos by JonBoy and Rob Green, who have inked SZA, Halsey, and Lindsay Lohan. Can you think of a more fun way to celebrate 25 years of the inexpensive, delicious AriZona?
